Top seed Chen Yufei completed her perfect tournament at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Thailand Open by beating home hopeful Ratchanok Intanon at the Huamark Indoor Arena in Bangkok.

Chinese Chen completed her tournament without dropping a set as she won 22-20, 21-18, her ninth victory over sixth seed Intanon in their 11 meetings.

After her victory in this BWF Super 500 event, Chen said she now planned to rest and recover before the World Championships, due to start in Basel  on August 19.

"After three back-to-back tournaments, I'm not at my fittest," she said.

"I’m tired and need to recover, then train and raise my performance again before the World Championships."

In the men's singles, Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien-chen was given a thorough test by surprise finalist Angus Ng Ka Long of Hong Kong.

Third seed Chou was the highest ranked in the draw after the top two players, Kento Momota and Shi Yuqi, withdrew before the competition, and had not dropped a game in the four previous rounds.

Unseeded Ng, however, was competitive throughout, before Chou eventually triumphed 21-14, 11-21, 23-21 after 67 minutes.

"In the second game, Angus pushed me and moved me around the court and I couldn’t gain control," Chou said.

"That’s when I decided I had to take control and do everything I can to win this so I smashed and dropped and did whatever I could.

"I give thanks to God and just want to enjoy for now then prepare for the World Championships.

"I also want to share my win with my family and everyone who has supported me.

"Badminton is a cool game."
