Fernando Saraiva Reis of Brazil claimed his third Pan American Games title as competition in weightlifting came to an end here.

Saraiva Reis of Brazil was successful with each of his lifts in the men's 109 kilogram category at Escuela Militar de Chorrillos, managing 190kg in the snatch and 230kg in the clean and jerk.

His overall total of 420kg was well clear of Cuba’s Luis Manual Lauret, who achieved 399kg, while bronze was secured by Mexico’s Raul Manriquez with 393kg.

Saraiva Reis added his gold medal to those won in the men's 105kg at Guadalajara 2011 and Toronto 2015.

United States’ Sarah Robles and Dominican Republic’s Veronica Saladin went head-to-head for the women's over-87kg.

The latter had a five kilograms advantage after lifting 130kg in the snatch, but Robles responded in the clean and jerk.

The American lifted 159kg, six kilograms more than her rival, to win the overall title on 284kg.

Saladin ended as the runner-up on 283kg, while Ecuador’s Lisseth Ayovi was third on 255kg.

Maria Fernanda Valdes of Chile was crowned the winner of the women’s 87kg.

She was five klograms behind Dominican Republic’s Crismery Santana after the snatch, but lifted 147kg in the clean and jerk to win the overall event on 259kg.

Santana finished on 258kg to take the silver medal with Ecuador’s Tamara Salazar earning bronze on 256kg.

Water-ski also came to an end today, with America's Regina Jaquess earning her third gold medal of the Games.

She triumphed in the women's overall event, scoring 2934.83 points to add to her victories in the slalom and jump yesterday. 

Canada’s Whitney McClintock Rini and Paige Louise Rini completed the podium with 2832.91 and 2574.75 points respectively.

Their compatriot Dorien Llewellyn was the winner in the men's overall with 2885.50, ahead of Chile's Rodrigo Miranda with 2620.87 points.

In third was Argentina's Tobias Giorgis on 2524.28 points.

America's Andrew Adkison achieved the gold medal in the men’s wakeboarding after scoring 79.33 pints, with Argentina’s Ulf Ditsch on 78.78 and Mexico’s Patricio Gonzalez on 69.67.

More success came for America, the Lima 2019 medal table leaders, in beach volleyball.

Karissa Cook and Jace Pardon came back from one set down to beat defending champions, Ana Gallay and Fernanda Pereyra of Argentina, 14-21, 22-20, 15-10.

Brazil’s Angela and Carolina claimed the bronze medals.

It was a family affair in the men's beach volleyball final, with Chilean cousins Marco and Esteban Grimalt triumphing against Mexico's Juan Virgen and Rodolfo Ontiveros 21-19, 22-24, 15-10 to take gold.

Julian Azaad and Nicolas Capogrosso of Argentina completed the podium.
