A campaign has been launched to recruit volunteers for the 2020 World Men’s Curling Championship, which is due to take place in Glasgow.

Glasgow Life is the events-organising arm of the local Government in the Scottish city and is managing the volunteer recruitment process.

Applications can be made through to August 25 by clicking here.

"Glasgow Life is looking to enlist the help of friendly, outgoing and enthusiastic volunteers to get involved and be part of the LGT World Men’s Curling Championship 2020," a statement on the Glasgow Life website reads.

"Volunteers will play an integral role in the success of the LGT World Men’s Curling Championship and there is an exciting range of roles available.

"You don’t need to have previous volunteer experience – the opportunity is open to anyone over the age of 16 with passion and enthusiasm for the event.

"Roles could include anything from greeting delegates and technical officials from across the world, to delivering services to athletes through to being a friendly welcoming face for spectators at the venue."

The 2020 World Men’s Curling Championship is scheduled to be held at Emirates Arena from March 28 to April 5.

It was awarded to Scotland as part of a four-event package in December 2014.

The multi-hosting agreement started with the 2016 European Curling Championships in Braehead.

Scotland also staged the 2018 World Junior Curling Championships in Aberdeen and the 2019 World Wheelchair Curling Championship in Stirling.

Sweden are the reigning world champions in men’s curling.

They beat hosts Canada in this year’s final in Lethbridge in April.

It was a second successive triumph for the European nation, which also claimed the gold medal at the expense of Canada in 2018.
