Thailand, one of four top-seeded teams at the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Under-19 Women’s World Cup in Bangkok, incurred a second successive defeat today as they were sunk 57-74 by Latvia in Group A.

In yesterday’s opening action in Thai-Japan Youth Arena, Thailand were one of three top seeds to lose, along with China and Germany, beaten by Belgium and Japan, respectively.

Belgium maintained their momentum in Group B with a 69-43 win over Argentina.

Germany had another bad day as they lost their second Group D match 67-60 to Colombia, who earned their first win in this event having lost by 37 points in their opening game against Spain.

But China recovered their equilibrium with a 72-62 Group B win over Mali.

There was a reverse of fortune, too, for Japan, beaten 79-65 by Spain in their second Group D game.
