The 2019 World Para Athletics Grand Prix series is due to resume tomorrow with the start of a three-day event in Bydgoszcz in Poland.

The penultimate leg will take place at the Zdzisław Krzyszkowiak Stadium, which has previously hosted a number of major events, including the 2017 European Athletics Under-23 Championships and the 2016 International Association of Athletics Federations World Under-20 Championships.

Bydgoszcz was confirmed as the replacement for Berlin in staging the event in March.

It came after the German capital withdrew due to refurbishment work at the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark.

Bydgoszcz is the eighth host of a World Para Athletics Grand Prix event this year.

It follows in the footsteps of Dubai, São Paulo, Beijing, Arizona, Nottwil, Grosseto and Tunis.

The last leg is due to be held in Paris, from August 28 to 30.

Attention will then turn to the World Para Athletics Championships, scheduled to take place in Dubai from November 7 to 15.

Last month, Bydgoszcz was announced as the host city for the 2020 World Para Athletics European Championships.

The event is set to run from June 3 to 7 at Zdzisław Krzyszkowiak Stadium, three months before the start of the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
