An international sambo coaching seminar has been held in the Dominican Republic’s capital Santo Domingo.
The four-day event took place following the conclusion of the Pan American Sambo Championships in the city.
It did so under the direction of International Sambo Federation sports director Dmitry Maximov and two-time Pan American sambo champion Yohander Rojas of Venezuela.
The seminar was attended by 51 people from 14 countries of the Pan American region: Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago and Uruguay.
These are record figures for the region for such an event, both in terms of the number of participants and the number of nations represented.
The Pan American Sambo Championships were held from June 28 to 30.
There were two days of sport and combat sambo action before beach sambo competition took centre stage on the last day.
An international sambo referee seminar was staged on the eve of the Championships.
