Netherlands rider Laura Smulders won her fourth continental title at the BMX European Championships in Latvia.
A week after securing national glory, Smulders added to European crowns earned in 2014, 2017 and 2018.
The London 2012 bronze medallist edged out compatriot Judy Baauw for top spot in Valmiera, while Denmark’s Simone Christensen took third.
Merel Smulders, Laura’s younger sister, was fourth.
There was a Dutch one-two-three in the men’s race of the European Cycling Union event.
Mirroring the women’s contest, Niek Kimmann was first home a week after winning the national title.
Kimmann, the leader of the International Cycling Union world rankings, was followed in by Twan van Gendt and Dave van der Burg.
The event concludes tomorrow.
