Sandra Nori, a member of Australian Taekwondo’s Board of Directors and deputy chair of Duke of Edinburgh in the country, has announced that Australian Taekwondo has been accepted as a partner of the Duke 4Sport programme.
She presented the President of Australian Taekwondo, Hassan Iskandar, with the organisation’s formal recognition as a member.
Nori also handed World Taekwondo President Choue Chung-won a badge of the Duke of Edinburgh cypher.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award contributes to the personal development of youngsters.
It encourages them to lead a healthy and active lifestyle and to contribute to their communities through a compulsory voluntary unit.
By becoming a Duke 4Sport partner, national sports organisations have the opportunity to assist and deliver a globally-recognised award.
Sports can also enhance their ability to tap into volunteer hours, because young people who do taekwondo and the award can do their volunteering component at their club or assist at competitions.
