UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) held an educational event at Loughborough University to promote clean sport.

The all-day event took place at the university’s refurbished Powerbase gym.

Part of the gym is home to British Weightlifting, one of several national governing bodies housed at the university.

British Athletics, British Swimming, British Triathlon, England Netball and the England and Wales Cricket Board are also based at the university.

“We were thrilled to welcome UKAD as ethical performance is at the heart of Loughborough Sport,” said John Steele, executive director of sport at Loughborough University.

“All our performance athletes are provided with an ongoing clean sport education, which extends to bespoke individual workshops relevant to their chosen discipline.

“We’re passionate about raising awareness of the positive values in a high-performance environment and by working alongside organisations such as UKAD we hope to spread that hugely important message even further.”

Loughborough University contracts UKAD to conduct no-notice testing across its varied performance programmes.

The university follows a food-first approach within its support structures and partners with leading supplement supplier Maximuscle.

Maximuscle has committed to providing only batch-tested products.

Loughborough’s nutrition team will also support performance athletes to accurately advise on food and supplement intake.

Attendees at the event were able to meet with elite athletes, including world champion powerlifter Ali Jawad.

They also received free giveaways.
