Puerto Rico's men and China's women dominated the third day of competition at the International Basketball Federation 3x3 World Cup 2019 in Amsterdam.

A 21-18 win over Asian Cup runners-up Mongolia and a 19-15 win over a Russian side that had beaten them last time out earned Puerto Rico second place in Pool B and a place in the quarter-finals at Museumsquare.

Ukraine topped Pool B after wins over Estonia and Mongolia 15 -13 and 18-17 respectively.

In the men's Pool D competition, Latvia recovered from their opening day loss to Poland as they knocked out two-time Asia Cup champions Australia 20-16 and followed up with a tense 22-20 win over Brazil on a Karlis Lasmanis game-winner.

Poland advanced to the quarter-finals top of Pool D despite losing their last game 21-17 against Japan.

They are next due to play Puerto Rico, with Ukraine meeting Latvia.

In the women's category, China - in Pool A - beat Hungary 21-11 and then the Dutch hosts 13-12.

Both China and Hungary advanced to the quarter-finals.

Spain dominated women's Pool C from the beginning and did not lose a single game.

Mongolia and Romania had no answer to Aitana Cuevas, who leads the scoring charts with 33 points in four games, as her team won 18-13 and 21-14.

Romania took the second ticket to the quarter-finals in Pool C and are next set to meet China.

Spain are scheduled to play Hungary, also at the quarter-final stage.
