Hosts Morocco claimed four gold medals on the second day of competition at the African Sambo Championships in Casablanca.

Joussef Faout started the day with gold in the sport 62kg category, beating Amine Chemlal of Algeria with an arm lock that forced a submission.

Jean Mouaka-Tsiloulou of Congo took the bronze medal.

The home supporters had more to celebrate straight after as Abdelhak Amhidra defeated Omar Reguigui of Tunisia in the combat 74kg.

Algeria's Mekaoucha and Guinea's Ousmane Bah earned bronze.

The most impressive Moroccan gold came in the combat 90kg, where Nasser Edderdak defeated Hamza Abdellan of Tunisia within 55 seconds.

Edderdak took an early advantage, moved further ahead with a pin and won with another impressive pin.

There were three consecutive finals between Morocco and Cameroon, the hosts winning the last of them, the sport +100 kg, where Brahim Mouhyi bested Oscar Asso'o Emane.

The fight was evenly matched until Mouhyi executed a pin with two minutes to go and comfortably held out.

Sarvesh Lutchmun of Mauritius and Algeria's Fouad Ksira were awarded bronze.

Before that, two Cameroon fighters inflicted home disappointment with a pair of contrasting victories.

First, in the sport 90kg, Raoul Ndjima Ehowa beat Houcine El Chakiri with just seven seconds remaining on the clock.

Some superb defensive sambo saw the Cameroonian protect his one-point lead for almost the whole fight, although the Moroccan levelled the scores in the final minute.

However, a spectacular throw and pin from Ndjima Ehowa earned him victory in the closing moments.

Bronze medals went to Mohamed Rabet of Algeria and Henrique Joalo of Angola.

The most eye-catching win of the day came in the combat +100 kg, where Rouaj Saad was comprehensively beaten by the charismatic Nana Djantou.

A huge low kick from the Cameroonian floored his opponent after just eight seconds.

Djantou celebrated by gesturing to the crowd, then carrying his delighted trainer from the ring over his shoulder.

The only winner on day two not to come from Cameroon or Morocco was in the sport 74kg, where Abdelkeder Amrouche of Algeria beat Congo's Mauve Mahoungou, with bronze medals for Morocco's Moutii Amine and Boubou Camara of Mauritania.

The Championships conclude tomorrow with the beach sambo competition.
