Britain’s Gordon Reid beat third-seeded home favourite Stéphane Houdet in three sets today to progress to the men’s singles semi-finals at the BNP Paribas Open de France in Paris.

Reid, seeded seventh, prevailed 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 on day four of the International Tennis Federation Super Series event, being held at Parc Départemental des Sports de la Grenouillère d'Antony.

Awaiting him in the last four is second seed and defending champion Gustavo Fernández as he seeks to avenge his loss against the Argentinian in last week’s French Open final.

Fernández eased to a 6-3, 6-2 win over France’s Nicolas Peifer in the quarter-finals.

The other semi-final pits top seed Shingo Kunieda of Japan against fourth seed Joachim Gérard of Belgium.

Kunieda defeated the Netherlands' Maikel Scheffers 6-1, 7-5 to reach the penultimate round, while Gérard overcame Sweden’s Stefan Olsson 6-4, 6-3.

Next up for him is Britain's Andy Lapthorne, who defeated Brazil's Ymanitu Silva 6-3, 6-4 in the quarter-finals.

Second seed Koji Sugeno of Japan is also through to the semi-finals following his hard-fought 6-7, 6-3, 7-6 victory at the expense of the United States' Bryan Barten.

His penultimate-round opponent is fifth-seeded Dutchman Sam Schroder, a 6-4, 6-2 winner over fourth-seeded Australian Heath Davidson.

Action is due to continue tomorrow.
