Hosts England thrashed Afghanistan by nine wickets in their final warm-up match before the start of the International Cricket Council Cricket World Cup.

Jason Roy starred with the bat as he hit 89 runs to guide England to a comfortable victory at The Oval in London.

England had bowled Afghanistan out for 160, thanks in part to the efforts of paceman Jofra Archer, who took 3-32.

Afghanistan's total marked a decent effort as they slumped to 92-8 owing to a range of poor shots.

The home side made easy work of the run chase, reaching their target in only 17.3 overs.
