New Zealand caused an upset against India after defeating them by six wickets in a warm-up game for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket World Cup starting next week in England and Wales.

India were bowled out for 179 in just 39.2 overs at The Oval, with New Zealand chasing them down with ease. 

They will now have to attempt to gain some form against Bangladesh in Cardiff on Tuesday (May 28), while New Zealand take on West Indies in Bristol on the same day. 

Australia defeated England by just 12 runs in their warm-up game, totalling 297-9 in their 50 overs.

Steve Smith scored his first century since being banned for his involvement in the ball-tampering scandal which rocked Australian cricket last year.

England meet Afghanistan in their last game before they hold the World Cup, with Australia facing Sri Lanka. 

The World Cup begins on Thursday (May 30), with the hosts playing South Africa in the opening fixture.
