South Korea’s Kim Soeng-jin topped the men's qualifying event at the International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM) World Cup in Prague.

He progressed to Sunday’s men’s individual final with 1,150 points, two more than Russia’s Rio 2016 champion Alexander Lesun.

Esteban Bustos of Chile was third with 1,141, just ahead of the British pair of world champion Jamie Cooke and Joseph Choong, both on 1139.

Valentin Prades of France, South Korea’s Jun Woong-tae and Jung Jin-hwa, and Ireland’s Arthur Lanigan-O’Keeffe were other notable inclusions in the 36 qualifiers from 88 starters.

Tomorrow will see the women’s individual final, for which Britain’s Kate French was top qualifier, taking place.
