With 50 days to go until the start of the Summer Universiade in Naples, the event is making waves during Rolex Capri Sailing Week thanks to a specially-branded boat.
The black and white craft, which carries the Napoli 2019 logo on its stern and sides, along with the wording “30th Summer Universiade”, will be involved in competition until May 18.
It is the 65th edition of this event in the Mediterranean Sea, which involves racing from Circolo del Remo and Vela Italia, and is also known as Regata dei Tre Golfi.
The branded-boat initiative derived from a partnership between the Universiade and the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV).
The boat owner is Carlo Varelli and the crew on board the Mylius 14.55 are wearing grey jackets, t-shirts and shorts bearing the Universiade and FIV logos.
The Universiade sailing competitions, scheduled to take place from July 8 to 12, will also be hosted by Circolo del Remo and Vela Italia.
“The presence of a boat with the Universiade logo in such an important competition as Regata dei Tre Golfi proves the spirit of great collaboration between the Universiade and the national federations, and that is a key to the success of the event,” said the Naples 2019 Special Commissioner Gianluca Basile.
The Naples 2019 Summer Universiade, the 30th such event to be held under the aegis of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), will run from July 3 to 14.
