Danny Leon delighted the Spanish home crowd by topping the men's skateboard qualification round at the International Festival of Extreme Sports European Series in Madrid. 

Leon, competing in his place of birth, scored 78.33 points to top qualification at the indoor Wizink Center.

Eighteen skaters competed in total, with 12 claiming spots in the next round. 

France's Vincent Milou qualified in second with 76.00, while Argentina's Matias Dell Olio was third with 75.67 points.

Following the skateboard event was the BMX freestyle semi-final.

Twelve reached the final from a field of 24, with Russia's Irek Rizaev leading with 91.93.

Nick Bruce of the United States was second on 91.67 points, while Britain's James Jones was third on 90.33.

The final of the skateboard and BMX competitions will take place tomorrow.
