Home player Judd Trump won six frames in a row tonight to settle a dramatically fluctuating match against China’s Ding Junhui with a 13-9 win that put him in the quarter-finals of the World Snooker Championship in Sheffield.

After Trump had surged into a 5-1 lead on Sunday, Ding responded so well that he carried a 9-7 overnight lead into this evening’s final session.

But Trump, who reached the 2011 final, losing to John Higgins, was an irresistible force at the Crucible Theatre as he earned a last-eight meeting with Scotland's Stephen Maguire.

Higgins, meanwhile, a four-times world champion, took an 11-9 lead over another former champion, Stuart Bingham.

Bingham levelled at 11-11, but Higgins prevailed 13-11.

Kyren Wilson came back from a five-frame deficit to beat Barry Hawkins 13-11.

Hawkins, the 2013 finalist, took control at the start, but Wilson battled back to triumph as the pair reeled off nine century breaks.

Ali Carter also got through thanks to a 13-9 win over China's Zhou Yuelong.
