Hosts Nigeria will play Mauritius in the final of the All-African Badminton Championships after both teams progressed in Port Harcourt today.

The home nation, yet to drop a game in the tournament, beat South Africa 3-0 in the last four to secure a place in the gold medal match at Alfred Diete Spiff Civic Centre.

Mauritius defeated Egypt by the same scoreline.

"It is going to be a tough game," Nigeria assistant coach George Shitta told The Nation.

"Mauritius is rated the best in Africa so we have to play well to dethrone them.

"The Nigerian team is yet to drop a game and I am sure they will carry that form into the final against the favourites, Mauritius.

"If we get our acts together, we will surely win gold.

"The players know the enormity of the task ahead and I am sure they will rise to the challenge."

An individual competition is due to start on Friday (April 26) and conclude on Sunday (April 28).
