United States enjoyed success in both the Greco-Roman and women’s wrestling competitions at the Pan American Championships in Buenos Aires.

Cheney Haight secured gold in the men’s 82 kilogram Greco-Roman discipline.

He saw off Peru’s Carlos Espinoza Castro and Adil Barros Machado at the Argentinean capital’s Centro Nacional de Alto Rendimiento Deportivo.

There was further success for the US as women’s freestyle competition began, with Alex Hedrick topping the 55kg standings.

She claimed gold ahead of team-mate Jayd Davis and Argentina’s Elis Azerrad Parodi.

Julia Salata clinched the US’s third gold of the day after finishing top of her group in the 65kg.

Canada’s Jessica Brouillette and Brazil’s Gabriela Pedro da Rocha completed the podium.

Laurence Beauregard secured gold for Canada in the women’s 59kg competition, as she upgraded from the silver and bronze medals from the past two editions of the event.

Puerto Rico’s Andribeth Rivera Belliard placed second in the round-robin event, with Brazil’s Karoline Silva de Santana third.

Beauregard’s team-mate Dejah Slater topped the standings in the women’s 72kg competition, ahead of the Rachel Watters of the US and Argentina’s Linda Machuca.

There was success for Cuba and Venezuela in the final men’s Greco-Roman competitions.

Cuba’s Yosvanys Pena Flores beat American Kamal Bey 3-1 in the men’s 77kg final.

Bronze medals were earned by Juan Escobar and Colombia’s Jair Cuero Munoz.

Venezuela’s Luis Avendano Rojas won the men’s 87kg after Cuba’s Antonio Duran Robles was disqualified from the final.

Mexico’s Alfonso Leyva Yepez and Patrick Martinez from the US claimed the bronze medals.
