France’s Philippe Lau and Germany’s Johanna Holzmann claimed gold medals on the final day of the International Ski Federation Telemark World Championships in Rjukan.

Skiers battled through the early rounds of the parallel sprint competition in the Norwegian town.

Switzerland had representatives in the men’s and women’s finals, following their mixed team and sprint success.

But their domination came to an end when their skiers were forced to settle for silver.

Lau emerged the winner of the men’s competition as he saw off Switzerland’s Bastien Dayer to claim the third world title of his career.

Noah Claye ensured two French skiers made the podium after ousting Germany’s Benedikt Holzmann in the battle for bronze.

Holzmann’s sister Johanna secured a medal as she triumphed in the women’s competition.

The German overcame Switzerland’s Amelie Wenger-Reymond, who had already earned the sprint title.

France’s Argeline Tan Bouquet claimed bronze after defeating Norway’s Guro Helde Kjoelseth in the small final.

The bronze added to the silver medal she had secured in the sprint yesterday.
