Top seeds Jyrki Nurminen and Santeri Siren of Finland cruised into the last 16 at the International Volleyball Federation Beach World Tour event in Siem Reap in Cambodia with two victories on the opening day of main draw action.

The Finnish duo finished top of Pool A to qualify for the knockout stage at the two-star tournament.

Nurminen and Siren beat Cambodia’s On Soknak and Jon Vichetdararith 21-14, 21-15 before overcoming Eric Stadie and Paul Becker of Germany.

The Finns led 21-16, 5-1 before Becker was forced to withdraw through injury.

Austria's Felix Friedl and Simon Fruhbauer secured top spot in Pool B ahead of second seeds Nutannon Inkiew and Adisorn Khaolumtarn of Thailand.

Freidl and Fruhbauer defeated Australians Tim Dickson and Marcus Ferguson 17-21, 21-19, 15-9 in their first match before recording a 21-17, 21-19 win over Inkiew and Khaolumtarn.

Christophe Dressler and Alexander Huber of Austria, the third seeds, also booked their place in the last 16 despite losing one of their group matches.

Dressler and Huber were beaten 21-15, 21-18 by Denmark's Kristoffer Abell and Martin Trans Hansen, who went on to take first place in Pool C.
