Some of the world's best foil fencers will be in action tomorrow when an International Fencing Federation (FIE) Grand Prix begins in Anaheim in the United States.

Both the men's and women's fields for the contest boast world and Olympic champions including Rio 2016 gold medallists Inna Deriglazova from Russia and Italy's Daniele Garozzo.

Another Italian Olympic champion, Elisa Di Francisca, is also set to compete in the women's event at the Anaheim Convention Centre, while reigning world champion Alessio Foconi is entered for the men's event.

In total 190 men and 140 women have entered the event which will last for three days until Sunday (March 17).

It will be the only FIE Foil Grand Prix to take place in the Americas this year.

Among the host nation's entries are men's world number one Race Imboden and his Rio 2016 team-mates Alexander Messialas and Gerek Meinhardt.

The 2018 world junior champion Nick Itkin is also set to represent the United States, as is the 2013 senior world champion Miles Chamley-Watson.

Tomorrow will boast men's preliminary action before the women’s competition begins on Saturday (March 16).

The finals will all go ahead on Sunday (March 17).
