The competition will take place at the Hi-End Snooker Club between June 20 and 23.

It will see Hong Kong's Ng On Yee defend her title in the Thai capital, with a new international team competition set to precede the event for the first time.

This will see female players from across the world compete between June 17 and 19. 

It comes after both Dubai and Beijing had both previously been named as the hosts of the Women's World Championship.

The United Arab Emirates Billiards and Snooker Association were unable to fulfill their obligations, however, and the Beijing event, due to take place between March 20 and 23, was postponed.

This was due to a number of players experiencing travel and visa problems, leading to fears a full entry list would not be possible.

China's capital has now been replaced entirely with the tournament pushed back to June.

A prize purse of £15,000 ($20,000/€17,500) has been set for the Bangkok tournament with £7,000 ($9,000/€8,000) for the team event.

This means the action will be "the biggest week of women's snooker for over a decade".

"We are excited to be heading back to Asia for this year's World Women’s Championship and are thrilled with the support that we have received from our friends at the Hi-End Snooker Club and Billiard Sports Association of Thailand in the organisation of this event," said World Women's Snooker President Mandy Fisher.

"We are also looking forward to hosting a major new international team event and to seeing women players from all over the world for what should be a fantastic week of snooker."
