Stadelmann reached the main women's draw at the World Tour Super 300 level tournament after beating Katerina Tomalova of the Czech Republic 21-17, 21-14.

Hungary's Daniella Gonda earned her place with a 21-13, 21-15 win over Stadelmann’s compatriot Julie Franconville.

Riya Mookerjee of India advanced with a 21-15, 21-10 win over Hungary's Laura Sarosi, and Spain's Clara Azurmendi won her match against Switzerland's Ayla Huser 21-10, 21-14.

In the men's draw, Lucas Claerbrout of France advanced with a 21-17, 20-22, 21-12 win over Canada's Jason Ho-Shue before defeating Italy's Fabio Caponio 21-15, 21-4.

Estonia's Raul Must beat Luis Penalver of Span 21-17, 22-20 before defeating France's Arnaud Merkle 21-19, 21-17.

Kalli Koljonen of Finland earned his place with a 21-9, 21-6 win over Austria's Luka Wraber before beating Japan's Koki Watanabe 22-20, 21-17.

Felix Burestedt of Sweden beat Germany's Kai Schaefer 21-13, 16-21, 21-15 in his opening match before earning a 21-18, 21-14 win over Eetu Heino of Finland.

Elsewhere, qualifying was also getting underway at the Lingshui China Masters Super 100 tournament at the Agile Stadium, with home players filling six of the eight men's places for the main draw.

Early action in the men's main draw saw Canada's Xiadong Sheng win his first round match against Namboun Luangamath of Laos 21-7, 21-9.

Home player Liu Haichao won his first round match against Liu Chia Hung of Chinese Taipei 21-13, 5-21, 21-15 and was joined in the second round by compatriot Zhang Weiyi, who beat Mongolia’s Batdavaa Munkhbat 21-5, 21-8.

On the women’s side, Chinese players won three of the four qualifying places on offer.
