Russia’s two-time world champion Sergey Kamenskiy has claimed another gold medal with victory in the men’s 10 metre air rifle final at the International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup in New Delhi.

The 31-year-old reigning world champion in the format showed his dominance to win with a score of 249.4 points ahead of China’s Yakun Liu and team world champion Zicheng Hui at the Dr. Kami Singh Shooting Range.

Liu and Hui took the silver and bronze medals with scores of 247.0 and 225.9 points respectively.

Kamenskiy's victory comes a day after the Russian won the silver medal in the men's 50m rifle three positions.

With Olympic quota places on offer in every event bar one in New Delhi, the spots today went to Liu and Austria’s Martin Srempfl who finished fourth.

They benefitted as both Kamenskiy and Hui have already won quota places at previous events.

That was today’s only final, but qualifying also went ahead in other events, including the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol.

France’s Clement Bessaguet finished top there with a score of 296 points.

There are no Olympic quota places are available in that contest after the India denied visas for two Pakistani athletes Ghulam Mustafa Bashir and Khalil Ahmed, who were hoping to compete.

The controversy arose after a Pakistani militant group claimed responsibility for a terrorist attack in Pulwama in Kashmir on February 14, killing 40 members of the Indian police force.

In response the International Olympic Committee chose to "suspend all discussions" with India regarding applications to host future events.

Tomorrow action is due to continue with the 25m rapid fire pistol final, as well as finals in the women’s 50m rifle three positions event and the women’s 10m air pistol.
