Brazil and Italy gained their first gold medals today as junior wakeboard finals went ahead at the International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation World Cable Wakeboard and Wakeskate Championships in Buenos Aires.

At the Pampa Cable Park in Argentina’s capital, Brazil's Pedro Caldas took the men’s under-19 wakeboard final with a score of 85.33 points, while Italy’s Claudia Pagnini won the women’s event with 64.00.

Caldas’ score was enough to beat Germany’s Max Milde by exactly five points, while Hungary took the bronze through Olivér Orbán who scored 70.00.

Pagnini, meanwhile, triumphed by just two points ahead of another German Marie Gruneberg.

The Netherlands took bronze in that final through Iris Van Suchtelen van de Haare, who scored 35.00 points.

On a day of junior finals, medals were also awarded in the men’s and women’s under-19 wakeskate events.

France picked up three medals in the two finals, including both gold and silver in the men’s final, where Maxime Giry sealed the title.

He won with a score of 77.33 points, beating compatriot Theo Balsa who scored 55.33.

Hosts Argentina took the third podium spot as Kai Ditsch scored 50.00 points.

The women’s final meanwhile was won by Telma Cester from Spain, who scored 70.00 points.

That saw her beat Salome Le Ly from France by 16 points, as Italy gained another medal through Vanessa Tittarelli who won bronze with 47.33.
