Prommegger had closed the gap to Italy’s Roland Fischnaller in the men’s standings by finishing third yesterday as the tour revisited an Olympic venue post-Games for the first time.

He improved on the result in the second of the back-to-back parallel giant slalom events by progressing to the big final.

His run included victories over Russia’s Dmitry Loginov and Italy’s Maurizio Bormolini in the quarter and semi-final stages of the event.

Prommegger faced challenge of Sylvain Dufour in the final.

A margin of 0.15 seconds separated the pair at the finish as Prommegger earned a narrow win over his French rival.

The hosts celebrated a podium finish for one of their athletes, with South Korea’s Lee Sangho beating Bormolini by over one second in the small final.

Successive podium finishes have seen Prommegger move onto 2,960 points in the parallel giant slalom World Cup standings.

An exit before the quarter-final stage saw Fischnaller drop to second on 2,290 points with two events of the season due to remain.

Germany’s Ramona Hofmeister claimed victory in the women’s competition after she beat Austria’s Sabine Schoeffmann in the big final by 0.74 seconds.

It meant Schoeffmann secured a podium finish in consecutive days following her bronze medal yesterday.

The Czech Republic’s Ester Ledecká, the Olympic champion and yesterday’s winner, won the bronze medal on this occasion.

She beat Germany’s Cheyenne Loch by 0.50 seconds in the small final.

The result strengthened Ledecká’s grip on first place in the World Cup standings, taking her to 3,400 points.

Although she skipped the third of the five World Cup events to focus on competing in Alpine skiing, Ledecká enjoys a comfortable cushion over her nearest rival Nadya Ochner.

The Italian lies second on 2,590 points.

The World Cup is due continue with an event at Secret Garden in China on Saturday (February 23).
