Italian athletes dominated the qualification rounds of the senior competition at the International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) World Cable Wakeboard and Wakeskate Championships in Buenos Aires. 

The first day of action at the IWWF World Cable Wakeboard and Wakeskate Championships in Argentina's capital saw the youth and senior wakeboard competitors take to the water at the Pampa Cable Park.

Italy had a sucessful day in the senior competition, with Rolando Fociani topping qualification in Group A of the men's veteran category with a total score of 51.33 points. 

Fabrizio Cicerale qualified first in Group B of the men's masters discipline with 60.00 points and Alberto Della Beffa qualified from Group A with 59.33.

Great Britain's Steph Caller led qualification in the women's masters event with 73.67 points and Poland's Iwona Niemiec-Satola dominated in the women's veteran category with 54.00.

The under-15 girls category saw France's Aurelie Godet and Russia's Irina Ignateva top qualifying in Group A and B with 80.00 and 75.33 points respectively. 

Australia's Mikayo Mundy secured the highest score in the under-15 boys competition, with a score of 76.0 points. 

The competition is due to continue tomorrow with the wakeskate and wakeboard junior men and women events.
