More than half the  tickets for next month's Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk, including the competition's sporting and cultural events, have been sold. 

Tickets went on sale on March 2 last year, the first time that Winter Universiade ticket sales had started exactly a year before the competition begin.

So far, over 143,000 tickets have been sold to spectators from Canada, the United States, Germany, Korea, China, the Netherlands, and Norway, as well as Russia.

Tickets for curling, ice hockey, cross-country skiing, ski orienteering and bandy are still available on the Winter Universiade's website.

Spectators can also buy tickets for the World of Siberia festival, which will feature performances from ethnic music, ethno-jazz and folk-fusion artists. 

Other than the website, tickets are available in ticket offices across Krasnoyarsk. 

The Universiade will be held in Krasnoyarsk from March 2 to 12, with over 3,000 athletes set to compete over 11 different sports.
