The Panama Olympic Committee (COP) has launched its fundraising programme for 2019 and 2020.

Called #UnPaisUnEquipo - or "One Country, One Team" - the money drive will help with major events such as the Lima 2019 Pan American Games and the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

It was organised at the COP's Summer Workshop 2019 which was attended by 40 athletes from different sports.

Promotion of #UnPaisUnEquipo will take place at national level with the theme of "behind every athlete, there is a country".

The public have been urged to contribute directly to the preparation of Panamanian athletes, with stories of their commitment and sacrifice part of the campaign.

Information about Lima 2019 and Tokyo 2020 was provided and there was also a tour of the renovated COP headquarters.

Panama has claimed one Olympic gold medal in their history.

It came courtesy of long jumper Irving Saladino at Beijing 2008.
