Switzerland had winners in both sprint events at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Telemark World Cup in Bad Hindelang with Bastien Dayer coming out on top in the men’s and Amelie Wenger-Reymond doing so in the women’s.

Dayer triumphed with a time of 2 min 3.79sec, beating nearest challenger Jonas Schmid of Germany by 0.96 seconds to the disappointment of the home crowd.

Rounding out the podium was Schmid’s compatriot Benedikt Holzmann, who finished 2.30 seconds off the pace.

Victory extends Dayer’s lead in the discipline’s World Cup standings to 75 points.

He now has 325 points with France’s Phillippe Lau second on 250 and Switzerland’s Stefan Matter third on 220.

Matter ranked fourth today ahead of France’s Matti Lopez in fifth and Lau in sixth.

In the women’s event, Wenger-Reymond prevailed with a time of 2:14.79 to increase her advantage at the top of the discipline’s World Cup standings.

She has moved onto 360 points and is followed by Great Britain’s Jasmin Taylor, the third-place finisher today in 2:21.38, on 270.

France’s Argeline Tan Bouquet is third with 235 points having ended up sixth today.

Taking second place in Bad Hindelang was Germany’s Johanna Holzmann in 2:15.81

Action is due to conclude tomorrow with the men’s and women’s parallel sprint events.

The 2019 FIS Telemark World Cup is made up of five stops with this being the fourth.
