Hosts Turkey won five of the 10 women's cadet titles on offer today as action begun at the World Taekwondo President's Cup for Europe region in Antalya.

Hacer Akcay was among the quintet of home winners at the Maritim Hotel Convention Center, beating Russia's Maria Yukhano to the under-33 kilograms gold medal.

There was also success for Beyza Karabulut in the under-41kg category, Nisa Imamoglu in the under-51kg, Nisanur Alkan in the under-59kg and Sude Yaren Uzuncavdar in the over-59kg.

Karabulut, Alkan and Uzuncavdar sealed their triumphs in all-Turkish matches against Zeynep Nur Saricicek, Feyzanur Akcay and Aleyna Kahriman respectively, while Imamoglu defeated Croatia's Kristina Jakovljevic.

Russia finished a close second to Turkey in the gold medal stakes, collecting four.

Their victories came courtesy of Milana Bekulova in the under-29kg division, Dayana Badmaeva in the under-37kg, Arina Lebedeva in the under-47kg and Valeriia Shtuchkina in the under-55kg.

Today's one other victor was Spain’s Lidia Galindo Zapata in the under-44kg.

Competition in Antalya is due to continue tomorrow when the men's cadets take centre stage.
