Australia defeated Japan in overtime in the final of the Asia Oceania Floorball Confederation qualifiers for this year's Women's World Championships.

Australia and Japan had already qualified for the Women's World Championships in Neuchâtel in Switzerland in December, alongside Singapore and Thailand.

In a tense, evenly matched final, the two teams were drawing 4-4 at full time at the Huamark Indoor Stadium in Bangkok.

Australia's Amanda Bartrim scored the tournament winner for her country six minutes into overtime.

Thailand also defeated Singapore 5-4 to finish in third place, while Malaysia beat New Zealand by the same scoreline again to finish fifth.

The European qualifiers are still in the group stage, with Estonia getting their first win of the tournament by beating Italy 13-1, while Czech Republic got their second win out of two, defeating Belgium 26-0 in Gdansk.

More European matches have been taking place in the Slovakian town of Trenčín.

Germany defeated Spain 6-3 and Russia triumphed against Austria 13-4.

The group stages are due to continue tomorrow.
