South Korea dominated the action on day two of the International Skating Union World Junior Short Track Championships in Canada, winning three of the four gold medals on offer.

With medals decided at 500 metres and 1,500m at the Maurice Richard Arena in Montreal, the Koreans only failed to win in the women's 500m.

In the first final of the day, the women's 1,500m, Whi Min Seo took the win in 2min 25.251sec while China took second and hosts Canada third.

Jinyu Li, who won Olympic silver over the same distance in Pyeongchang last year, claimed second place in 2:25.320, while Courtney Lee Sarault finished in third.

The silver medallist at last year's World Junior Championships picked up bronze this time out in 2:25.770.

In the men's event it was Hyun Woo Chang who claimed victory for South Korea in 2:26.047.

China once again won silver through Pengyu Wang, while Italy's Pietro Sighel took the bronze.

In a photo finish they sealed their prizes in 2:26.443 and 2:26.457 respectively.

Today's only non-Korean gold medallist was Maame Biney, who triumphed in the women's 500m in a time of 43.800.

She claimed gold for the United States in front of a Dutch pairing of Xandra Velzeboer and Georgie Dalrymple, who was lucky to finish after a coming together with South Korea's Chae Hyun Kim.

Velzeboer won silver in 45.350 whereas Dalrymple crossed the line way behind in 1:04.495.

South Korea got back to the top of the podium in the day's last final thanks to Tae Sung Kim in the men's 500m.

He was victorious in a time of 40.943, while China's Sun Long finished second and Italy's Pietro Sighel third.

In another photo-finish they took their places on the podium in 41.252 and 41.263.

Tomorrow the Championships will come to an end as skaters battle it out in both the men's and women's 1,000m individual finals and the 3,000m relays.
