China secured a clean sweep of the women’s aerials podium at the International Ski Federation Freestyle Skiing World Cup in Lake Placid.

Xu Mengtao topped the standings at the American venue as the World Cup event came to a conclusion.

The Chinese skier produced an impressive display in the final, which saw her rewarded with a score of 89.88.

She ended clear of her team-mate Shao Qi, who finished as the runner-up on 71.92.

Xu Nuo completed the top three with a score of 67.28, with Chinese domination highlighted by Yan Ting finishing fourth on 54.52.

“Competing here in Lake Placid is always very exciting”, said Xu, who now has 21 World Cup victories.

“I won here the second competition last season and ended up taking home the crystal globe, so finishing on top of the podium here again feels very special.”

Xu Mengtao leads the Aerials World Cup standings with a tally of 404 points following her victory, while Belarus’ Hanna Huskova was second on 271.

Russia’s Maxim Burov triumphed in the men’s competition following a strong routine in the final, which he executed to impressive effect.

Last year’s World Cup winner claimed gold with a total of 129.86 points, with China’s Wang Xindi second on 121.27.

Russia’s Stanislav Nikitin rounded off the podium places on 116.29.

Burov extended his lead in the World Cup following the victory as he seeks to claim the overall title for the second consecutive year.

He has a tally of 366 points, with Belarus’ Anton Kushnir second on 272.
