The Longines Global Champions Tour (GCT) play-offs will make their debut in Prague tomorrow, with four days of action bringing together show jumping's finest operators.

This is a new concept for the sport which will involve individual GCT riders and Global Champions League teams who have competed throughout the season for a place at the lucrative finale in the Czech Republic's capital city.

There is an unprecedented €12 million (£10.7 million/$13.64 million) in prize money on offer at the O2 Arena.

The GCT has served as a qualifying process for 16 individual riders to reach the "Super Grand Prix" event in Prague.

The 16 challengers will face two formidable 1.60 metre tracks on Saturday (December 15) night in the high-stakes showdown and include Tour winner Ben Maher of Britain.

Fellow Briton Scott Brash, Edwina Tops-Alexander of Australia, Gregory Wathelet and Nicola Philippaerts of Belgium, Harrie Smolders and Frank Schuttert of The Netherlands, Carlos Lopez of Colombia, Sameh El Dahan of Egypt, Peder Fredricson and Henrik von Eckermann of Sweden, Alberto Zorzi and Lorenzo de Luca of Italy, Ludger Beerbaum and Daniel Deusser of Germany and Shane Breen of Ireland are also in the field.

GCL team fans will be treated to a brand new concept for the sport, with teams rallying to get through the quarter-final and semi-final stages before the finals on Sunday (December 16) in the GCL Super Cup.

Managers have been in intense discussion regarding strategic choices on which riders and horses to field for this event - the first indoor meeting on the calendar.

Teams can bring up to four riders, and many will be fielding big names.

Elsewhere, local rider Anna Kellnerova will seek to continue her impressive form on home turf, and will be joined by other under-25 riders including Jos Verlooy of Belgium, Lillie Keenan of the United States, Laura Klaphake of Germany, Michael Duffy of Ireland and Evelina Tovek of Sweden.

With a light show, wall-to-wall entertainment and a festive atmosphere, the Prague event is aimed at being an occasion for all the family to enjoy in the run up to Christmas.
