Austria’s Reinhold Schett won the men’s lower limb one, impairment two snowboard cross title today at the World Para Snowboard World Cup in Pyha to end a 22-month winless run.

The world championship silver medallist beat four-time world champion Chris Vos from The Netherlands and United States boarder Noah Elliot, to claim his first win on the World Cup circuit since February 2017.

Although Schett regularly challenges for the podium places, the 37-year-old has struggled to surpass Vos lately, succumbing twice in the banked slalom event in the Dutch town of Landgraaf two weeks ago.

He also missed the podium on day one in Pyha yesterday but found his form today to win gold on the same slopes where the 2019 World Championships will take place.

In the day’s other final, in the men’s upper limb, impairment two division, reigning Paralympic champion Simon Patmore claimed his first win of the season.

After three successive second place finishes on the World Cup circuit the Australian finally bagged a gold as he beat Italy’s Jacopo Luchini this afternoon.

The bronze medal was claimed by Austria’s Patrick Mayrhofer.
