The International Federation of Fitness and Bodybuilding (IFBB) World Fitness Championships are set to get underway tomorrow at the Podlaskie Opera here in Białystok, Poland.

The Championships will run throughout the weekend, with competition beginning tomorrow and continuing until Sunday (October 28).

Approximately 450 athletes are expected to compete, hailing from 43 different countries as the pinnacle of the IFBB fitness competition begins.

The women's events take centre stage as female athletes compete in five different disciplines, which themselves are made up of numerous height and weight categories.

The women's fitness, bodyfitness, physique, wellness fitness and bikini fitness will all be contested over the two days.

In addition, the competition will also stage the men's physique open, mixed pairs and muscular men's physique open.

On the final day of competition, the IFBB Elite Pro World Men's Physique Championships will also take place.

Each event will feature a pre-judging round, elimination rounds, semi-finals and finals, unless there are fewer than six athletes in a category in which case the prejudging will not take place.

The busy schedule also includes an Opening Ceremony on Sunday as well as a Parade of Nations.

"We are going to see fantastic athletes in all the disciplines," said IFBB President Rafael Santonja.

"We are going to enjoy every minute."
