Top seeds Kento Momota and Tai Tzu Ying continued their serene progress as they both reached the semi-finals of the Badminton World Federation French Open with straight games victories in Paris.

Reigning world champion Momota maintained his pursuit of a second straight major title by overcoming India's Srikanth Kidambi 21-16, 21-9 at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin.

The triumph for the Japanese top seed and world number one, winner of the recent Denmark Open, set up a crunch clash with Olympic champion Chen Long of China in the last four.

Chen, gold medallist in the men's singles event at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, needed three games to get past Indonesia's Jonatan Christie 21-18, 12-21, 21-16.

The other semi-final clash in the men's draw will be between unseeded Dane Rasmus Gemke and China's Shi Yuqi.

In the women's event, Chinese Taipei's Tai also continued her bid for a second consecutive triumph on the World Tour as she ousted India's Saina Nehwal 22-20, 21-11.

Fourth seed Chen Yufei of China, a 16-21, 21-16, 21-13 victor over Thailand's Ratchanok Intanon, awaits for Tai in the semi-finals tomorrow.
