Top seed Fan Zhendong remains on course at the International Table Tennis Federation Men's World Cup after breezing into the semi-finals at Disneyland Paris.

China's quadruple World Championship gold medallist, the winner in 2016, demolished Belarus player Vladimir Samsonov in straight games at the resort in the French capital.

The world number one won 11-3, 11-6, 12-10, 11-6 against the 15th seed to reach the last four.

"I had to control the match and concentrate at all times," said Fan.

"Vladimir is a top player and it's always a pleasure to play against him. 

"He has excellent tactics, so I always have to respect him."

All of the top six seeds made it through to the last eight on a busy day of action which also saw the last-16 clashes played.

Germany's defending champion Dimitrij Ovtcharov, seeded third, won an epic against fifth-seeded South Korean Lee Sang-su.

The European player triumphed 11-7, 11-5, 11-13, 9-11, 5-11, 11-5, 11-5.

That has set-up an all-German semi-final as second seed Timo Boll also advanced, beating fifth seeded Japanese player Tomokazu Harimoto in five.

Boll, the second seed, knocked out the 15-year-old sensation 9-11, 11-3, 13-11, 11-5, 11-9.

Fan will meet his compatriot Lin Gaoyuan in the semi-finals, the fourth seed.

Lin ended the hopes of Japan's Koki Niwa in the last eight, 12-10, 5-11, 14-12, 11-9, 11-5.

Both the semi-finals and finals will be played tomorrow.
