Ukraine’s Daria Bilodid, winner of a gold medal at the International Judo Federation (IJF) World Championships in Baku last month, has added the junior title in Nassau to her collection.

Unsurprisingly, Bilodid dominated the under-48 kilograms event in the IJF World Junior Championships at the Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas' Imperial Ballroom.

The 18-year-old was wearing her red backpatch for the first time, signifying her as world champion, and certainly lived up to her status.

In the final she threw Japan’s Sana Yoshida for ippon after two minutes of the match and claimed the gold medal.

Yoshida, making her first appearance at an IJF event, took home the silver medal.

The European under-23 Championships silver medallist Andrea Stojadinov of Serbia took the first bronze medal, defeating Spain’s Mireia Lapuerta Comas by ippon after 71 seconds of golden score for the medal.

The second bronze went to Spain’s Laura Martinez Abelenda, beating Kazakhstan’s second seed, Galiya Tynbayeva to take her second Junior World Championships medal.

The Spaniard added bronze to her silver medal from last year through two waza-ari scores without reply to defeat the Asian junior champion.

Japan’s Chihiro Todokoro won gold in the under-44kg category in her first IJF event.

Todokoro beat Tunisia's African junior champion Oumaima Bedioui in the gold medal match.

She took the lead in the match with a ko-uchi-gari for waza-ari before finishing off with osaekomi.

The first bronze medal went to Brazil's Pan American champion Amanda Arraes of Brazil who defeated France’s Melanie Frigoul with a single waza-ari.

The second bronze medal was claimed by the top seed, Lois Petit of Belgium, who fought beat Azerbaijan’s Shafaw Hamidova.

The match went to three minutes of golden score before Hamidova was penalised for a false attack, receiving her third and final shido and forfeiting the contest.

In the men’s under-55kg category it was an all Azerbaijan final between Rovshan Aliyev and Balabay Aghayev,

It was European Junior Championships silver medallist Aliyev who had to come from behind to beat his compatriot after he had scored first in the match.

Aliyev responded with a waza-ari score of his own and forced a golden score.

More than a minute of additional time was required to separate the team-mates before Aliyev took victory with a counter-attack.

In the first bronze medal match, Russia's Imam Ibragimov took the medal as his opponent, Kubanychbek Aibek Uulu of Kyrgyzstan, could not compete due to injury.

Hayate Handa of Japan claimed the second bronze medal, pinning Mexico's Moises Rosado for the victory.

In the men’s under-60kg event, Japan's Genki Koga added junior world title to his 2015 cadet world title.

He defeated compatriot Seishiro Konishi for the title by ippon in golden score.

The first bronze medal match was also decided by golden score as Brazil’s Renan Torres overcame Bauyrzhan Narbayev with a waza-ari.

The second bronze was taken by Georgia’s Jaba Papinashvili, who put sustained pressure on Turkey's Samet Kumtaş and scored twice.
