It followed huge wins over Singapore, the United States, Sri Lanka and Kenya.

Uganda are seen by many as the only team capable of beating the dominant South Africans and they maintained their 100 per cent start with a thumping 104-10 win against Zimbabwe.

Uganda also have five victories to their name, with only South Africa left to play.

The host nation and the defending champions will clash for the gold medal tomorrow.

Elsewhere, the United States secured their first World University Netball Championship triumph in their history as they defeated Singapore              44-37.

“For us this has been yet another learning point,” said Netball America President Sonya Ottaway.

“Most of the girls on this team have hardly played netball for a year.”

Singapore later bounced back with a 62-37 win over Sri Lanka, who were also beaten 62-33 by Kenya in the round-robin tournament.

The event in Kampala concludes with the final set of matches tomorrow.
