Hosts Britain completed the clean sweep at the World University Squash Championships as they beat Malaysia to clinch the team title in Birmingham.

Individual champions Josh Masters and Lily Taylor spearheaded Britain to victory with a 2-0 win over Malaysia in the final at the University of Birmingham.

Masters and Taylor both won their matches, which were repeats of the singles semi-finals, to give Britain an unassailable lead and ensure they completed their dominance of the tournament.

Masters gave the home side the lead when he overcame Mohd Syafiq Kamal 11-5, 11-8, 11-6 in just 32 minutes.

Taylor then proved too strong for Aika Azman but needed four games to secure a 11-6, 11-8, 9-11, 11-8 win and hand Britain a third title of the event.

"It was truly a team effort in the team event, having rotated the whole squad and claimed gold.

"It wraps up a great week and the best performance by any nation at this event, taking Britain to the top of the all-time medal table.”
