Liesette Bruinsma of The Netherlands produced her third world record at the European Para Swimming Championships as the sixth day of competition in Dublin’s Natonal Aquatics Centre produced five new world marks.

The 17-year-old Paralympic champion’s latest flourish in the Irish capital came in the women’s 100 metres freestyle S11 final, where she finished in 1 min 05.14sec to trim 0.67 seconds off her own previous record from June 8 this year.

Italy’s Antonio Fantin provided the first world record of the evening as he won the men’s 100m freestyle S5 final in 1:07.73, well inside the mark of 1:08.39 set in 2012 by Brazil’s Daniel Dias.

Britain’s Jessica Applegate was the next world record breaker as she came home in the women’s 100m butterfly S14 final in 1:04.13, breaking the record of 1:04.46 she set in Sheffield last year.

Ihar Boki of Belarus set a new world mark for the men’s 100m freestyle S13 event as he won in 50.65sec, finishing 0.20 seconds inside his own mark from 2015.

The final world record of the night was provided by Ukraine’s Denys Dubrov, winner of the men’s 200m individual medley SM10 in 2:05.63, beating his own record of 2:06.87 from Rio 2016.

The session also produced two European records - from The Netherlands’ Lisa Kruger, winner of the women’s 200m individual medley SM10 final in 2:27.80, and Italy’s team in the concluding mixed 4x50m freestyle relay 20 pts, which clocked 2:23.03.
