Former Pakistan opening batsman Nasir Jamshed has been banned for 10 years after he was found guilty of "masterminding" the spot-fixing scandal in the nation's Super League tournament in 2017.

Jamshed, who has played 48 one-day internationals and two Test matches for his country, was described as the "lynchpin" in the corruption by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The 28-year-old had already been given a one-year suspension in December of last year for failing to co-operate with an investigation into the scandal surrounding the Pakistan Super League, the country's premier Twenty20 competition.

Jamshed was initially charged with seven violations of the PCB's anti-corruption code but the player rejected all the charges.

He becomes the sixth Pakistan player to be sanctioned by the PCB for their role in spot-fixing - where specific elements of a match such as no-balls are manipulated for financial benefit - during the 2017 tournament.

Sharjeel Khan, Khalid Latif, Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Nawaz and Shahzaib Hasan have also been given bans varying in duration.

"PCB's charges against Nasir Jamshed have been proved, and he's been banned for 10 years over multiple charges," said PCB's legal advisor Taffazul Rizvi.

"Even after the period of suspension, he won't be allowed to be involved in cricket or cricket administration.

"His name will be placed on the lists of 'persons to be avoided', so this was the decision.

"As PCB has been saying from day one, Jamshed was the lynchpin in the corruption case, that has been proven today.

"We've been saying that he is the one who recruited others into spot-fixing."
