Members of the Organising Committee for the Minsk 2019 European Games have held their first training session in preparation for next month’s half marathon in the Belarusian capital.
As reported by the Belarusian Telegraph Agency (BelTA), the training session took place in Pobedy Park.
A team of more than 50 people from the Organising Committee will participate in the Minsk Half Marathon, which is scheduled to be held on September 9.
They will also take part in the Bright Team 3x3 basketball event that will be hosted by the Palova Arena, one of the venues of the 2019 European Games, on August 29.
BeITA reports that the competition will be complemented by a show, quizzes, and a performance by a break dance team and HC Dinamo-Minsk's Ice Girls cheerleading team.
Spectators will also see a match featuring Belarusian basketball veterans.
The Minsk 2019 Organising Committee unveiled its "Bright Team" project earlier this month with the aim of engaging the public with the second edition of the European Games.
In particular, the scheme has the goal of involving more people in the 15 sports on the programme - 3x3 basketball, archery, athletics, badminton, beach soccer, gymnastics, boxing, canoe sprint, cycling, judo, karate, sambo, shooting, table tennis and wrestling.
Bright Team began its work at a beach soccer tournament in the Belarusian capital.
A Minsk 2019 Bright Team side made up of applicants for volunteer roles were among teams to take part at the city's Beach Soccer Complex, which has been specially built inside two months for the Games.
Bright Team has taken its name from the official Minsk 2019 motto "Bright Year, Bright You".
This in turn has been based on the letters BY, the first two letters, phonetically, that make up the word Belarus and also the internet country code domain for the nation.
