There was a surprise in the women's under-57 kilogram class when 2011 world champion Carmen Marton only settled for bronze.

She was beaten by team-mate Stacey Hymer, who Marton had defeated at last week's World Taekwondo President's Cup, at the Mairie De Mahina in Mahina City.

Hymer took gold and Kyah English silver in an Australian 1-2-3 in which New Zealand's Victoria Arsapin also took a share of bronze.

Carmen's brother Jack Marton triumphed in the under-80kg class after overcoming team-mate Cameron Taylor in the final.

French Polynesia duo Tinirau Remuela and Peter Babka shared bronze.

Other Australians to impress included Ruth Hock in the women's under-67kg division.

She beat fellow countrywoman Katarzyna Bartnikowska in the final to add to the bronze medal she won at last year's Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat.

French Polynesia again took double bronze courtesy of Sophia Tehiva and Gatien Averii. 

Riba Stewart led another 1-2-3 for Australia in the women's over-67kg competition.

She beat Emily Stellino as Chelsea Hobday shared bronze with Faaite Moehau of French Polynesia.

Safwan Khalil claimed men's under-58kg honours after getting the better of team-mate Adrian Abela in the final.

Bronze medals were shared by French Polynesia's Raimana Rataro-Tuihaa and another Australian in Lewis Bailey. 

Arash Mozhdeh Jouybari took men's over-80kg honours in a rare final which did not consist of two Australians.

He beat French Polynesia's Hery Tuarei and Australia's Adam Meyers and French Polynesia's Reynald Chan each shared bronze.
