The International Wheelchair Rugby Federation (IWRF) will auction off a custom made VESCO competition standard chair after the gold medal match at the 2018 Wheelchair Rugby World Championships in Sydney, the organisation has announced.

The auction will be held between the match ending and the medal presentation on August 10, with all proceeds raised going towards the IWRF Hall of Fame.

Anyone wishing to bid at the auction must sign up in advance at the Quaycentre competition venue.

If you cannot be there in person but would still like to bid, you can assign someone who will be at the event to bid on your behalf.

The chair, which is being provided by the official sponsors of the competition VESCO, has a value of almost $9,000 (£6,856/€7,697) and will be custom built to the exact specifications of the highest bidder.

Optional extras, including a removable ball holder and custom footplate, will also be on offer for an extra cost.

The IWRF World Championships will run from August 5 to 10 featuring the world’s top 12 teams.

Hosts Australia are the current world champions and will therefore be defending their title.
