China’s dominance of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) World Junior Diving Championships has continued today, as they took gold and silver in both the A boys' one metre springboard final and the B boys' platform final in Kiev.
The country now has seven golds, six silvers and a bronze in all after five days of competition.
Zongyuan Wang won the first final of the day, the 1m springboard event, while Zheng Li came second at the Liko Sports Arena.
557.65 points was enough for Wang to seal China’s sixth gold, while Li gained the silver with 526.85 points.
The bronze in the 1m final went to Australia’s Matthew Carter, who finished with a score of 517.90.
In the B boys’ platform final Zelin Yao and Zewei Wang immediately matched their compatriots’ performance from earlier in the evening.
Yao seized China’s seventh gold of the championships with 481.85 points, while a score just 0.45 behind gained Wang the silver.
Bronze in that event went to Russia’s Maksim Malofeev who scored 467.85.
Tomorrow will see China go for gold once again in both the B boys’ 3m final and the A girls’ platform final.
